Marsalforn is one of the most popular resort on the island of Gozo. In summer it throbs with life as hundreds of families move in to spend the summer at the coast and foreign visitors arrive for a revitalising dose of sun and sea. A beach of sand and small pebbles is backed by a promenade which runs right round the head of the bay, providing a pleasant place to stroll all year round.

The rocks along each side of the bay provide plenty of additional space for sunbathing and swimming straight into deeper water. These are also good places for snorkelling and is a popular base for diving enthusiasts. Small fishing boats gather on the eastern side and in winter when almost everyone else has gone, the fishermen can still be seen peacefully repairing their boats and mending their nets.
The post Marsalforn Bay – Marsalforn, Gozo first appeared on Blue Flag Malta.

Hondoq ir-Rummien, below the village of Qala in Gozo, is dotted with traditional salt pans, some of which are still used to harvest salt throughout the summer months. On this coast is a small cove, Hondoq ir-Rummien (translates to Pomegranate Moat), which is used by snorkelers because of its deep and clear water and the small caves at water level. Access to the sea is from bathing ladders. The cove has a view of Comino. There is also a small white sand beach sheltered by a small promontory on the southwest side.
From Qui-si-Sana in Sliema to Balluta Bay in St Julian’s, is one long stretch of rocky shore. The promenade is popular for long walks and for a snack or good meal, day and night, while enjoying the shoreline. The sea is deep, but generally clean, clear and safe to swim. It is also excellent for snorkelling. Favourite bathing spots are; the Tigne’ area, Qui si-Sana, Ghar id-Dud, the Exiles and Fond Ghadir.

Fond Ghadir is dotted with cubicles that were exploited for the production of sea salt on a small scale. Now the cubicles are mostly used for sunbathing. Beach management is operated by the MTA and includes lifeguard services with beach supervision. Some parts of this coast are accessible to all people while other parts are not.
The post Fond Ghadir first appeared on Blue Flag Malta.

The coastline promenade stretches a few kilometres from SalinaBay to St Paul’s Bay taking in some of the Islands’ best open sea views and the protected Islands of St Paul. The shore is mainly rocky and used for sun bathing. The water is deep, but clean, clear and safe for bathing.

Bugibba Perched Beach is another beach replenished with artificial sand. It lies along the promenade, in the midst of tourist accommodations. Before the intervention, the beach was a linear rocky shore with a sharp rock surface. When sand was being considered, the beach was planned to be totally reversible and should the need arise, the rocky coastal stretch will return to its original geological form. 2000 square metres of the rocky coast were transformed into a sandy beach, perched above the sea level. Bridges and ladders were introduced to facilitate access in and out of the water. Full beach management takes place on Bugibba Perched Beach from the 15th of June to the 15th of September. In 2011 the Beach was awarded a Blue Flag while in 2012 it is again being awarded the Blue Flag.
